DEFREESE MANOR

More than 40 years ago, our church leaders had the vision to provide safe housing for the elderly. After many years of planning, deFreese Manor opened on June 2, 1982. The facility, located at 2669 Dodge Street just two blocks north of Kountze, has 51 apartments for senior citizens with limited income.  

Our mission continues each week as volunteer members of our congregation drive the deFreese Manor bus for weekly grocery trips, appointments, and outings; help in the gardens; sit with those struggling; provide programs and picnics; and communion by our pastors.

HUD subsidy requirements for an apartment are that you must be at least 62 years old or disabled with an income of no more than $30,450 for a single person, or $34,800 for married couples. Applications are available from the Manor’s office upon request at 402-345-0622.

The deFreese Manor office is open from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
